Free–Or Cheap–Weekend Family Fun Along The Wasatch Front

Salt Lake Comic Con pretty much rules the weekend for us here at Chez Collard, but there’s a million things to do, most at low or no cost!  Take a look and make some plans…


10am: The Utah State Fair begins today!  Tickets are $7-10.

10a-7p: Salt Lake Comic Con, Salt Palace.  Tickets $17-250

12n: Brigham City’s Peach Days runs through Saturday.  Free admission.

11a-11p: Salt Lake Greek Festival begins today and runs through Sunday 9.7.  Tickets are $3–kids free.

4-8pm: Sugarhouse Farmer’s Market at Sugarmont Plaza, free admission.

7:30pm: Rooftop Concert Series in Provo, The Moth and The Flame.  Free admission, bring a lawn chair.

8:30pm: The Lego Movie, Scera Shell in Orem.  Tons of Lego activities, $3

9:30pm: Moonlight Canoeing down the lower Provo River: so cool!  Canoe the river under a full moon with experts from the CLAS Ropes Course.  You bring a jacket, they’ll bring the s’mores.  $15-168

Farmer’s Markets: as the days grow colder, our time for fresh produce and locally-sourced yumminess is close to ending!

8am-1pm: Ogden Farmer’s Market

9am-1pm: Gardener Village Farmer’s Market

10am-2pm: Thanksgiving Point Farmer’s Market

10am-7pm: Salt Lake Comic Con, Salt Palace.  Tix $17-250

10a-10p: Utah State Fair

10am: Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraising walk at the Southtowne Expo Center–donation requested.

10a-2p: Chile Roast Festival, Peterson Family Farm in Riverton.  Food, music, free canoe classes.

10a-4p: IceFest Celebration, Salt Lake County Ice Rink–free food, free family skating,. free lessons.

2pm: The Amazing Spiderman 2: free viewing at the Weber County Library Main Branch.

5p-11p: The Oddball Comedy Festival: Usana Ampitheatre, Louis CK, Sarah Silverman.  Tix $35-100

6pm: Retro Futura Tour-Howard Jones, Ultravox and Thompson Twins at Sandy Ampitheatre, tix $35

8pm: REAL Salt Lake vs. Dallas, Rio Tinto Stadium.  Tix $20-200



9am-1pm: Wheeler Farmer Farmer’s Market, free admission

10am-2pm: Park Silly Market, Park City Historic Main Street

11a-8p: Salt Lake City Greek Festival, Greek Orthodox Church.  Tix $3–sing it with me!  “Spaaaanikopitaaaa!”

12n-6pm: Oktoberfest-Snowbird Resort.  Free admission, tons of kid’s activities and hikes.  Oh, and beer.

1p-5pm: Craft Sabbath Salt Lake City Main Library.  Free admission, amazing crafts and food.

5pm: Utah PRCA Rodeo–Utah State Fairgrounds.  Tix $12
