Friday 8.14:

6am-9:30pm: Ogden Valley Balloon Festival – there’s balloon rides available, music, food, and be sure to see one of the night launches. Runs through Sunday. Admission is free, rides have a fee.

10am-10pm: Washington County Fair – Hurricane fairgrounds. There’s a parking fee of $3-5.00, admission to the fair is free. Runs through Saturday.

10am-5pm: The Great Salt Lake Truck Show – Thanksgiving Point, Electric Park. Free admission, but raising money for The Kidney Foundation.

10am-10pm: Salt Lake County Fair – Salt Lake Equestrian Park and Events Center. Tickets: $10

11am: Listening To The Distance – Woodbury Art Museum, UVU. Explore art through sight and sound, admission is free.

6pm-9pm: Food Truck Rally – UofU Bountiful Campus and Murray Park. Free admission.

6pm-10pm: Granary Row SLC – music, food, art and vendors in the middle of the street. Free admission.

6pm-10pm: Millcreek Venture Out – block party at Eastwood Elementary in SLC. Food, music and a free showing of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” under the stars.

7pm: Ogden Raptors vs. Billings Mustangs – Lindquist Field. Admission fee: check website.

7pm-10pm: The Leonardo’s Costume Carnival – dress up for $2.00 off! Tickets: $7-9

7pm: Crowdsourced Comedy – family-friendly comedy, The Wall, BYU. Tickets: $5.00

7:30pm: An Dragen Ceilteach – free Celtic music concert outdoors at the Brigham Young Park across from the Church Office Building, SLC. Bring a blanket and lawn chair.

7:30pm: Diana Krall & The Utah Symphony – Deer Valley Music Festival. Tickets: $44

8:30pm: Free Family Flicks “Cool Runnings” – Snowbird Resort. Free admission, food available.

9pm: Being Evel – Film screening about Evel Kenevil, Park City’s City Park. Free admission.

9pm: Salt Lake City Superstar at 50West – vocal competition, winner gets a singing tour and $2,000. Admission: $10.00

Saturday 8.15:

All day: Military Appreciation Day – All Utah State Parks offer free admission to active and retired military, with special activities to honor them.

7:30am: Davis County Walks 5K Mud Run – Davis County Legacy Events Center. Running fee: $20

8am-6pm: Healing Arts Neighborhood Festival – donate $10 in food to the Food Bank and receive acupuncture, massage and yoga, along with free workshops in Draper.

8am-2pm: Summer Ski Splash and Family Beach Day – Still Water Lake, Syracuse. Free admission and free water skiing and wakeboard lessons.

9am: First Dam Pancake Run – benefits children with Autism. Huge pancake breakfast after the run, prizes and more at First Dam in Logan. Race donation: $25-30

10am-10pm: Washington County Fair – Hurricane fairgrounds. There’s a parking fee of $3-5.00, admission to the fair is free. Runs through Saturday.

10am-10pm: Salt Lake County Fair – Salt Lake Equestrian Park and Events Center. Tickets: $10

10am: 2015 Escape Odgen 10k/5K Water War Run – Ogden Pioneer Stadium, “prisoners” (runners) try to escape the “wardens” pelting you with water cannons and more. Run fee: $35.

10am-2pm: Living Gristmill Day – Benson Gristmill, Stansbury Park. Enjoy living history, demonstrations and music. Tickets: $5.00

11am: Family Art Day – Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Logan. Free hands-on art concepts, projects and activities for the family.

2pm-8pm: Utah Beer Festival – Library Square, SLC. Sip over 100 kinds of beer with live music, tickets: $5.00.

5pm-10pm: A Bluegrass Saturday Night – Gallivan Center. Free admission for the concert, food and craft beer available.

7pm: Salt Lake Bees vs. Omaha Stormchasers – Smith Ballpark. Tickets: see website.

7:30pm: Shania Twain – Energy Solutions Arena. Tickets: $46-145

8pm: REAL Salt Lake vs. Portland Timbers – Rio Tinto Stadium, tickets: $25-150

1pm: Salt Lake Bees vs. Omaha Stormchasers – Smith Ballpark. Tickets: see website

2:30: Kid’s Adventure Tours, Snowbasin Resort – Huntsville. $25 ticket includes adventure, lift tickets, expert guides and lunch.

4pm: Ogden Raptors vs. Billings Mustangs – Lindquist Field, Ogden. Tickets: see website.

7pm: Brandi Carlile – Red Butte Gardens. Tickets: $34-49.
